First things for the first part of 2009

Today we had Ezell's fried chicken for the first time. It tasted great even after missing buses that were late and unplanned walking, because D let me rant it off when I came home. I don't mind walking when I expect to walk a ways. I do mind when I have a perfectly timed plan fail: waiting for 15 minutes, giving up, having the late bus pass me, stopping to wait for the next one, having that one be just late enough that I think "why not just walk the rest of the way", and having that one pass me when I am within 10 feet of the bus stop. All while worrying that the mashed potatoes would be cold by the time I made it home. (We do not microwave.)
We went to the Harvard Exit for the first time, as well. Slumdog Millionaire (enjoyable). Not realizing that there was a balcony to seek seats in, we took the last two together in the front row, but it was still fine.
New clothes! Christmas cash from my father. I like to spend money that he gives me so that I can tell him what awesome thing he bought for me, rather than having his gift disappear into ordinary expenses. Two Big Blondes continues to provide bountifully. I have two skirts, a dress, and four blouses -- none of them practical, work clothes -- that I did not have the last time my closet brought my spirits down. $12 remain. That's almost a haircut.
We have given each other each other's colds (me to him to me again, I think) for the first time. Yay? Or I may have had a relapse/mutation after New Year's Eve. I choose not to discuss New Year's Eve, except to say that we watched the Space Needle fireworks (my first time live) (win) and that if the band turned into vampires at midnight and slaughtered everyone, 1) we missed it and 2) it would have improved the party. S'okay, my new year hasn't started yet.
Wanna join us for this? NEW DATES: Jan. 10 and 11, 4pm – 9pm
International Fountain and Fisher Pavilion Lawn, FREE
Winter winds and snow put a damper on our original Winter Solstice Fire Festival plans and led to a rescheduling of this spectacular Seattle Center Winterfest premiere.
Please join us in January for this fiery festival on its new dates. You’ll marvel at the constellation of glowing steel structures set afire while local artists offer words, music and movement articulated with flames. They will illuminate the darkness and transform the International Fountain and Fisher Pavilion Lawn into stunning celestial wonders.

Interesting quick read, though.
I sometimes walk to the next bus stop or so because I expect the bus to be SRO. Walking ahead instead of waiting means less time sardined in.
