What's On the Desk

Hurrah! Hurrah! I was finally able to retrieve "My Name..." and "LCRD" from the diskettes (finally found "MNUY"), oh happy day. "LCRD" is a very short beginning for something that has stalled out, but -- why not feed the obsession?

And now...
I was going to write laundromat, but I had to look up the spelling, and found the much cuter word. I'm American, but can I use *twee*? I like that one, too.
So I was thinking of working on "...Reflecting You" today, for real this time, but while I was doing $25 worth of heavy bedding (that sounds so much more interesting than it is... heavy bedding, hmm), I found myself thinking of Vela, and her character, and the thing she wants so badly... Well. So that's a possibility, also. Was also thinking about Yue in that story...
...the way Kero said "cynical, as always" to him in the manga.
But
I haven't looked at the MM2 prompts yet. And I haven't had lunch. I'm hankering for something spicy, like gumbo. Or blackened catfish. Damn. I'm in the wrong part of the country.
Skip a couple of thought train cars--
I'm going to do NaNoWriMo this November, I think. Pretty sure. I can do 175 pages! That's, like, 6 a day if I add in a little buffer. Anyway, it will most likely be very autobio, since that's something that I know I can put down fast and thickly. (That's some of what was on those train cars.) (I'm still carrying a torch, even though I've tried to dowse it or set it down a few times.) Even if you're not interested in ever doing such a thing yourself, you should read the homepage (there's a link through the NaNoWriMo community here on LJ). I was laughing so much. And I want a T-shirt!
Oh, and here's something more that's even less interesting:
-Me, at my workplace-
Terry, who is a spry grandpa, looked at Bianca's T-shirt. "DKNY," he commented. "It took me a long time to figure out what that meant. Not that that reflects well..."
We both looked at him expectantly. We like Terry; he doesn't chat much. And he's nice.
"Another one I don't get is 'blogger'--"
"Weblogger," I said instantly. "Online journals." I made keyboarding motions with my fingers.
"Who does that?" he asked, looking astounded.
"It's popular with writers, and... . Well. I do it!" He still seemed perplexed, so I continued. "It's kind of like an open letter. You write about what's going on in your life, that kind of thing, and others can comment if they want. And you read about them."
"Strangers? And they're your best friends?"
"Well -- you find each other over mutual interests. Like, I'm involved in a couple of writing communities, and I interact with other writers..." I let my words wander off. It was an explanation, but I could see that he still didn't get it. And I didn't say the thing that burned on my tongue for the next several minutes.
"Everyone in a stranger, in the beginning."
. . .
Oh, and I jacked this from Stormflare (were you looking for me?)

You have a twisted soul! Twisted Souls are never
bad, and actually, are a rarity amongst souls.
These souls are a little combination of
everything, with always a little of their own
chaos to add. Twisted Souls are kind, loving,
weird, zany, temperamental, and very talented.
They have their own firm opinion, and can at
one time be very outspoken and passionate, and
the other time shy and feeling insignificant.
Twisted Souls have good senses of Humor and
other times can be a bore. You can act quite
intelligent at one time, and grasp concepts
easily, while other times they can find it
difficult to understand. Twisted Souls are
always very fun and Kind, and can be party
animals. But, if you love someone, youre
serious about it, intense, and forever loyal.
Congratulations-the world should have more like
you.
