Gah! I need to make sure that readers understand what happened, but this section feels like I'm beating them with the clue-by-four. It's everything but the recap where the characters bring out a flow chart and laser pointer. And it will still probably seem subtle, even when I go back in edits to set it up better. It's more like cymbals than cannons fired.
