I love reading my own work, I admit it.

I've seen lots of people complaining about their old works and being all, "oh no, I can't stand looking at it!" I've never understood it, but then I realised it must depend on the moment you've started writing - and whether your writing style changed a lot over the time. Mine hasn't, so when I read my old works, I still "recognize" my own voice. If you write differently now, you feel dissonance and that's why many people don't like looking at their old works. At least that's my theory ;)

After all, if you don't enjoy it yourself how can you expect anyone else to?

Depends how much you've matured, I think. My juvenilia was all in pre-Internet days and wouldn't have made it into print (well, apart from the story that won a children's writing competition when I was in primary school and got published :-p), so I don't have anything out there from before I was adult... or at least, nothing I'm ashamed of. I do have a couple of teenage things transcribed on my website -- and this :-) http://igenlode.dreamwidth.org/69953.html

there is a difference between being critical (as in critique) of your work and disliking it,

there will always be some of that,

but creating is a love affair, after-all,...
