I've seen lots of people complaining about their old works and being all, "oh no, I can't stand looking at it!" I've never understood it, but then I realised it must depend on the moment you've started writing - and whether your writing style changed a lot over the time. Mine hasn't, so when I read my old works, I still "recognize" my own voice. If you write differently now, you feel dissonance and that's why many people don't like looking at their old works. At least that's my theory ;)
Depends how much you've matured, I think. My juvenilia was all in
pre-Internet days and wouldn't have made it into print (well, apart
from the story that won a children's writing competition when I was in
primary school and got published :-p), so I don't have anything out
there from before I was adult... or at least, nothing I'm ashamed of.
I do have a couple of teenage things transcribed on my website -- and this :-)

Date: 2017-05-07 12:18 am (UTC)That's a fair point! I often hear writers ashamed of "old stuff," though.

reading my own work
Date: 2017-05-11 10:23 am (UTC)there will always be some of that,
but creating is a love affair, after-all,...
Re: reading my own work
Date: 2017-05-11 03:26 pm (UTC)I think of my creations as my children. It's pretty rare for one of them to be unloved at least a little, even the awful, unsavable ones.
Creation really is an act of love, I think.
