The girl took the turn with the pipes of her machine spitting steam. Jet pigtail curls pulled straight out from under her leather helmet by the velocity. Through the long-viewer lenses, her brother could see that she was squinting her eyes, instinctively, forgetting again that the goggles would protect her from the wind force. He tensed to watch her scream out of the turn with a seeming loss of control. Another racer braked and veered to avoid collision. Then the small girl shot out fast, straight, and true. The young man chuckled at her ploy, mentally preparing their victory speech.
