Dreamcatcher Sonnet

What dreams would catch within the winding net
that I could tie with daring filiment;
would bindings by my hand restrain regret
or for one length of night, quiet lament?

I wonder if the knottings of a cord
could hold against the strainings of your past;
if in the spiral, my own power poured
could weave the lattice with the strength to last

a measure that was just enough to keep
the cutting thoughts at bay for a short while,
tethers drawn so unwanted pain might sleep ~
the bondage that awakes your wayward smile.

A barrier in place to set you free,
Encircling you with twining symmetry.
