Cats and Candy

Now is the time for all good cats
to rise up from their afternoon naps
and shed the bulky, cold weather coats
leaving them on their keepers' laps.
This tool really works. My long-hair feline, already a very soft girl, feels as soft as butter, and my smeeze is almost rabbit-soft.
Speaking of rabbit fur, McPherson's had some wildly dyed skins that would not have looked out of place on the set of the old Star Trek series. I was underwhelmed with the store otherwise. The online catalog is much better.
Yesterday I went to dim sum at the place in the Great Wall mall. My dad got the bill, so I have no idea how it compares as far as cost, but the food and variety are better than average. (I still prefer Jumbos.) I spent the whole day with my family because afterward we had a birthday party for my little niece, now 5, who oversaw the party planning like the little overlord she is. I love piñata parties.
I don't have to link to Wikipedia, do I?
Piñata violence has decreased with time. When my parents were children, theirs were made out of clay pots and wire, not cardboard, covered in paper. Add flying shards to 1)a blindfolded, stick weilding child and 2)hordes of little critters diving for the candy that comes flying out. That's kind of terrifying.
Modern piñatas sometimes have pull-ribbons, so you don't even have to hit them. Everyone grabs a ribbon and tugs. Some of the ribbons will defeat outer hull integrity, leading to candy venting.
Since the candy is wrapped in moisture resistant packaging (or could be put into snap containers), but the piñata itself is paper, I suppose you could squirt-gun one to pieces if it was paper maché. This would return a more satifying level of violence and destruction, without increasing the presence of jabby things. (Stick for squirt gun seems like a reasonable trade.)
But no matter what, it's only fun if you don't take it seriously.
