butterflydreaming: "Cris", in blocks with a blinking cat (Four Sleepers)

The last time I had held a controller, it had a lot less buttons. [livejournal.com profile] omnifarious sat me down in front of Katamari Damacy this morning. (I kept thinking, I hope [livejournal.com profile] spazzychic doesn't get mad for not getting to me first.) As expected, I'm pretty terrible.

Later today I went out in the bold sunshine to Alki, where [livejournal.com profile] divinityof_fire and I peered around an Indian cultural festival. We then got some dinner and headed up the hill to see The Lady in the Water. I meant to see it weeks ago, but somehow... . I love Shyamalan. His earlier movies were stronger films in terms of mainstream appeal, but I *liked* Signs and The Village, and I liked this one, too. His storytelling style appeals to me. I think he fills his movies with strong actors who get to play characters that they enjoy.

Before the movie, we wandered around Metropolitan Market for a bit and admired the cheeses. Mmm, cheese. The variety makes me want to throw a party.

India-Indian. I felt that it was for a religious holiday. There were many booths that had dioramas set up -- a doll festival arrangement, a series of human figures representing a man from infancy through old age -- and few booths with crafts or food. (The food was free, but not set up while we were there.) There was a informational maze explaining reincarnation and vegetarianism. There were lots of cute little kids in fancy dress.

I think it was going to become more lively in the later evening. I didn't see any music or dancing set up but had the feeling that there might be some, later.
