I have something stuck in my craw today. But it spawned from a conversation about how "perfect people never complain" so it kinda shuts the door on bitching about it. *nods*
I always got (or get, since I'm rewatching Twin Peaks) caught up in looking at Dale Cooper talking, to where I tend to miss what he was actually saying. He likes his coffee, so I guess he would know all about not needing sleep.
you won't come across the quote in the series - it's from "Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes", the biography that was published sometime around when the series was on air. in it, a 20-something D.B.Cooper decides to try a sleep deprivation experiment - he checks in at various times through the 2-3 days that he's awake. at one point, to demonstrate his continuing dexterity, he affixes a rope to his bedroom ceiling and ties a watermelon to it. some hours later he notes that there's a watermelon spiked on one of his bedposts, and wonders why. he blames this (and other things) on the little poeple he's realized are living in his closet. his final conclusion before he zonks for something like 24 hours is that human beings don't need sleep - as long as they can keep the little people out of the closet.
are you rewatching from videotape, or DVD?
"A clean bed and a fair rate. And maybe a small television set..."
That's not the one with the Diane tapes, right? That was a different one, if I'm remembering correctly.
I'm watching from DVD, renting. I'd up and buy the series if they had everything up through the cancellation. The result would probably be Dale/Annie fanfic. Or Audrey/Laura precanon fem-slash, possibly. {contemplates}
Re: "A clean bed and a fair rate. And maybe a small television set..."
not the actual cassette, nope. there's actually a .pdf here - unforunately, it looks like they de-bound a book and scanned it, so the pages are laid out a little wonkily. the relevant stuff starts on december 27, 1973 which is page #65 in both the book and the .pdf.
I'd up and buy the series if they had everything up through the cancellation. yup ditto. especially if it included the american pilot.
Or Audrey/Laura precanon fem-slash, possibly. you've seen the movie, right? it's already a prequal, might get in the way of your precanon plans...
Re: "A clean bed and a fair rate. And maybe a small television set..."
I watched TP in two attempts. The first time, the scene of Bob crouching behind the bed railing gave me such a case of the creep outs that I didn't want to watch any more. When it re-ran, I started watching it again, mostly because a new friend was really into it, and the enthusiasm was catching.
The whole thing tends to give me a sense of "someone standing behind me". Even the music.

Re: "A clean bed and a fair rate. And maybe a small television set..."
yunno, i never rilly got creeped by it. ok, almost never. i was a big fan when it aired, and organized at least three viewing parties where we blew through the entire 9 hours of the first season, energized by donuts, pie, and (for those who imbibe) coffee.
Re: "A clean bed and a fair rate. And maybe a small television set..."
the setting of trees and fog has only become familiar to me within the last 8 years too. i keep meaning to pay a visit to snoqualmie falls, and so far it's yet to happen.
Now I *really* want to have a big sleepover/watch-a-thon! "if you will it, it is no dream."
(for five bonus points, figure out which movie i was watching yesterday evening based on that quote. only three points if you use google or imdb.)

Now would be a good day to snuggle under blankets, eat pie, and watch the creepy show.
Re: "A clean bed and a fair rate. And maybe a small television set..."
are you referring to a particular episode?

I admit with shame that even reducing my point potential, I cannot guess the movie.
here's another clue for y'all
(extra two points for non-google figuring out the origin of the subject line)
and i could see myself seeing snoqualmie falls in april. assuming appropriate driving music etc.
