butterflydreaming: "Cris", in blocks with a blinking cat (mariposa (gift from Wendy B))

If you give roses to a Goth, the blooms should be red or white, and the thorns should be left on. If you give roses to a masochist, only the thorns are required.

You know what would be splendid? If we could go as long as we liked without having to eat, when we didn't feel like it, and be able to eat as much and whatever we wanted when we *did* feel like it. Dratted biological needs.

And another annoying thing? Butterflies. They're all the rage now; I see so much butterfly motif everywhere that it's starting to rankle. The "butterfly effect" has become an overused conversational phrase -- a guy used it to me wrongly today, and then didn't get it when I said that it wasn't a butterfly's wings, it was a dominoe. Conceptually different! The dominoe effect is a clear line of progression! Dratted pop culture!

So of course I'm unhappy with my nick now, and I want another one. Yes, yes -- I love Tanya Donelly's "Butterfly Thing", and Tori's new "Sleeps with Butterflies" has me very intregued. But I don't use the butterfly to be cute! As a symbol of chaos (theory), it does still suite me, as do other aspects the butterfly symbolism (dreams, the soul). And the original philosophical connection, of course. Dratted appropriateness!

{thinks thinks thinks}

Is it time to start using my name? Which one?

It's funny. I'm having lunch at the Bubble Lounge right now, pho and bubble tea. And I was just remembering the butterfly,waking post that I did about half a year ago, where I mentioned bubble tea. It's funny because I feel so much more connected now, less like the inconsequential dreaming butterfly. Maybe that's part of the reason why my nick fits strangely now, like the shell of a chrysalis that's the wrong shape for my unfolding wings. But if that's the case, what am I now? The girl, dreaming of being a butterfly?

Or maybe this is all as much of an illusion as it has ever been, and my nick has never been more appropriate.

You could be "Chrys," despite it's English incongruity, as a shortening of "chrysalis." And it matches your name!

So what if you're a masochistic Goth? ;)

As for your name... if it suits you, stick with it, honey. It doesn't matter what other people think. It's what you like that matters. :)

I think you should stick with the name too. I have to admit, I was thinking the same thing on the butterlyfad (three different people commenting with butterfly-userpictures *shivers*). But these things die down. Look at it this way: you were there BEFORE, you will be there AFTER.

I really like these one liners you've been leading with. Are you writing them yourself? If so, they're really good. If not, where are they from?

They're all mine, but free to share. They'll all be things that I draw from personal experience.

(so thanks!)
