Get the fanfic in before November

butterflydreamingJust over 2000 words of "Take Comfort". That makes a skinny chapter 19. But it has been so long since I've had an update, and the rest of the piece is in bite sizes, too.
I didn't know what else to work on today, so I figured I'd take a stab at finishing what I had started to write on this chapter. The last three chapters were really meant to have been all in one, but I've been having a helluva time in this part, trying to keep it from spiralling out of control. I want to keep the focus on Nadeshiko and Yue, but I can't drop the importance of everyone else.
Rereading what I had, I had to smile. This story is such a soap opera! Nade tears-up at the littlest thing, but that's how I mean her to be. The High Drama tone, though -- it's funny.
Interestingly enough, as of this morning, Touya's kind of being a jerk. And everyone is pressuring Sakura. It's okay. Touya needs to be this way for a while, because even though he's always been a wait-and-see kind of guy, this is affecting him personally. He's off-kilter like everyone else. The only one not stressed out it Kero, but he gets his turn later (I think... as much as anything ever fazes him).
It's also interesting, from my angle, to see the difference in the way a story is formed. "Clow Stories" built from the middle outward, as a series of fantasy-type scenes that were then filled out and bridged together. So it still has a very light plot, and strikes me as a story that could use more story (as much as I love parts of it). (It's already had a bit of revision. I should really do something with that.) "Take Comfort", in contrast, has grown linearly. It started out as write-as-I-go, not plotted out in advance, and I've purposely kept it that way. In this second arc I have done some plotting, because I've already written the (in essence) ending, and because I've been trying to keep it under control and realistic. (Which is why no one has blue, purple, or grey hair. And everyone eats and sleeps a lot.) It feels really different to write it.
My goal is to finish it in January, which will be one year from it's start. I... don't know if I'll make it.
It's really nice to be able to yammer about these things.
Also, this is cool: 101 Words from the last 100 years. "Wizard" is one of them! Rowling, did you know???!?
