Something of a frustrating afternoon.
Everything else that I have written has been on the other machine, and it's been easy to cut & paste the stories in; rich text has kept the formatting. Except today. "Just Right" was written on this machine. Had some browser/LJ compatibility issues (probably some setting that I can fix, but I throw my hands up into the air, at this point). Tried the dreaded, almost never use IE, which got the story up on
chrysalisdreams, but it wasn't showing up.
I had time, so I figured I'd download the new free Netscape. I'm used to using Netscape. It's not wonderful, but it's fine.
Afterward, things got woogely (that's the tech term). I finally restarted my computer, and that seemed to get things going. So then I was able to get the story onto
musemuggers_2, though I got an error about locking data... but it's there, and not there twice.
While the browser was downloading, I tried to glean some more files off of my diskettes. The Presario has crashed twice today. I only got 2 little chapters of "Take Comfort". You know what I don't like to see? "The disk is not formatted. Would you like to format it now?" Damn pixies.
And then, there were 2 hornets in the apartment. One eventually made it's way out. The second one... was HUGE. Bakemon, I swear! It was at least 3 inches long, and fat, and my stupid cat wouldn't move away from it when I told her to. I caught it and released it, because it would've taken a .22 to kill, and I intentionally do not own firearms. Generally, I give the bugs a chance, even though the rule is, "enter my home and your life is forfeit". I usually have to kill the spiders, both because L cannot abide and because in Washington State, human beings are officially part of the population control for arachnids. Else, the next governor may have 8 legs.
I think my day is balanced out, though, by my proficient use of the lj-user tag (thank you,
shiro_no_wired) and discovering,
enjae, that you'd read "The Ones You Choose" without knowing anything about Card Captor Sakura. {beams} I must pull you in! If you can get the anime (like on GreenCine), you really should watch it. The manga would do, but then you'd miss out on the velvety voice of Megumi Ogata... {sigh}. Or can someone suggest a site with good pictures and character information?
Speaking of which, I finally watched the last disc of Samurai Deeper Kyo last night. That show effing ROCKS! {headbanger moment} Seriously, though -- there's something in the last episode that had both of us screaming with excitement and laughter. (Don't want to spoil.) Megumi Ogata-sensei does the voice for Yukimura Sanada (mokkori -- isn't that what City Hunter says?) on that show. Little different from Yukito, little different from Yue. If anyone knows where I can get a concise list of her credits, I would love you forever.
My current plot is to convince Amy Brown to watch anime and get hooked, thus influencing her style immensely. "Foxgirl" is on my wall, my favorite of hers, but though she loves foxes, she says she doesn't really know anything about the asian legends, doesn't know about kitsune! And so many of her fey already have wings, big black feathery things. She's ripe for corruption, I tell you!
