Mixed Nuts

Today I found four people at work with nothing to do. They were at the Good To Go (the toll bridge pass) community information center. They could not sell me a sticker pass. I was told that they were not set up for retail, but they could set up accounts. Which is the same as me setting the account (a brilliant gift idea for my sister and my brother-in-law) online. I can buy passes at a grocery store, or presumably order them online when I set up the account. Why, exactly, do four people need to be working on a Wednesday night, providing no service that I actually needed them to do?
Yesterday I baked a pineapple upside down cake, from scratch. Today I baked a pineapple upside down cake, using cake mix. (Shhhh!) The first one seemed weird, and the brown sugar -- excessive quantity, but per two different recipes -- buried the pineapple rings so that only the cherries showed. Now that my sister has picked up the pretty one from today, I've cut into the ugly first cake. Its not good. The cake is too sugary, and almost like it wants to be shortbread. I think it's going into the compost; I won't even bother taking it to work. Blech.
I am suspicious of this cake flour. It is "fresh." My tried-and-true chocolate cake recipe came out weird with it, too.
D experience the Goodwill Outlet yesterday. He brought me a gift: about 6' of undyed silk habotai. The piece has the weaving edges on each side. I thought it might be too narrow to be kimono fabric, but the interwebs say 14", and it's about that. If it is, it must be for an under layer, as my blue kimono is intended. If not, I conjecture that it might be handkerchief silk.
