Rewards Other Than Food

Food -- fancy coffee from a place I love, ice cream, bacon, guilty-pleasure restaurant food -- is an easy way for me to reward myself, to give myself a little present for getting through the rough spots. There have been a lot of rough spots lately, and consequently, that reward is getting overdone. The whole point of treats is that they are rare.

What else makes a good reward? It can't be a big expense, or even feel like much of an expense, since being broke is a little too present on my mind.

Several sheets of special paper and a pretty pen - I usually write a letter with it, or a poem on it.

A decent bottle of wine sipped from my prettiest glass outside somewhere at sunset or full dark to stargaze

A new CD or download (I recently got ani Difranco's Canon which is all kinds of sparkly) Perhaps a friend might make you a mix CD with some of it and flobots too? You'd only need to say yea and she'd be quite happy to do it, in fact it would be like a treat for her too.

Oh and dilletante has these mini boxes of chocolates - together with a nice red wine or some coffee? heaven.
