There's an AU that doesn't need to happen. I realize that while Kaylee is my fav, it was always Ginger, rather than Mary Ann, who I prefered among the castaways. I had a thing for the Professor, too -- though he was never *quite* as brainy, distracted, or scholarly as I wanted him to be. Did he even wear glasses?
