butterflydreaming: "Cris", in blocks with a blinking cat (Four Sleepers)

March 14th. Not only is this Pi Day, but depending on who you talk to, it's the reactionary-to-Valentine's-Day holiday called Steak and, um... well, Steak Day.

So let's make a date of it, hey?

Here are the possibilities:

We can find steak at Jak's Grill, in my part of the city. Jak's isn't too expensive for a steak place, and has a great reputation. The drawback is that it's not the most suitable to our typical group size; we might have to be at 2 adjacent tables.

We can get pie, if they are open late enough (not very likely) or if someone wants to host a pie eating venue at home, from Alki Bakery. I couldn't find a restaurant that serves pie worth making a special trip for. Alki Bakery's pies, however, are the best local pies that come to mind. Or we could have pizza pie and forget about steak.

As a third option, Casuelita's certainly has some kind of steak on the menu. How pi figures into that I don't know, but we can try to find out.

EDIT: Pies and Pints, for savory pie, is a good suggestion. This is a full restaurant, unlike Australian Pie Co., which I love, but didn't suggest because they lack any frills.

Thoughts?

shall i throw myself on the mercy of [livejournal.com profile] seattle and ask about pie? (3/14 may not be good for me anyway because 3/15 is my wedding anniversary.)

Hm, I knew it was close, but I didn't realize how much. It would be a bummer if you were out on this one.

I considered asking [livejournal.com profile] seattle but got lazy. If you think it would be fruitful, go for it!

that's a pretty nice entry for [livejournal.com profile] seattle. you should have seen the useless thread that came from me posting that an old business in Pike Place Market was closing; since it was a meat market it turned into a viscious vegetarian brawl.

There's at least one place in Seattle that serves steak-and-kidney pie, which would fulfill both parts...

Count this as a tentative RSVP for whatever it is that's decided.

ecccch. Kidneys. No food should be made out of anything used to process bodily fluids (just carrying them around is barely passable, but altering them is ick)

ICK!

So far out, it's not even on the same continent. Liver, (if possible) is the foulest tasting meat I have ever consumed. Never again.

I feel dumb for re-using jugglers. I meant jongleurs.

You could do one on your side of the border, too. Dueling dinners!

Do you have HP Sauce down there?

I have a freezer full (my Mother-in-law is a cattle rancher.)

Houses of Parliament Sauce (http://www.hpfoods.com/brands/hpsauce/) made by the same folks as Lea&Perrins (also yummy!)

Australian Pie Co.
i'm assuming they do OZ-style savoury pies? if those are somewhat similar to NZ-style savoury pies, i could be interested in stopping in sometime a couple of months hence...

The owner is from Down Under. I don't know about authenticness, but they are mighty tasty.
