Real Seattle rain
Mar. 27th, 2014 09:48 amThe rain that is falling right now in the U District is what I think of as "real" Seattle rain, albeit on the heavy side. The drops are almost mist. They are difficult to see, except as a general sort of blur. Put your hand out and you (almost) can't feel them. This is rain for hoodies, the gusts cold enough that you'll want some layers.
It doesn't seem to justify the hassle of an umbrella. Besides, those gusts have bumbershoot flipping enthusiasm.
I've grown to like this rain, though the gray Aprils are what kept me from moving here, at first, though my family kept urging me. I guess I wouldn't like it so much if I didn't know that this is spring, just the way spring is: too long and not warm enough.
But the homeless guys have started sleeping outside again, an indication of the warming weather. Summer is coming, and we have glorious summers.
