No rest for the wicked
Oct. 19th, 2009 09:42 pmIt was not a restful weekend. It was chock full of fun stuff and people. My sister, who lives only the short distance away of White Center, is someone I see once a month if I make a point of it. It doesn't help that she is usually working weekends, and I work Monday through Friday. She had this Saturday off, so we made plans and I didn't flake.
Saturday was a pumpkin bread and sweet potato bread baking day. She had been having a the same hankering for pumpkin yummies that I had been having. I picked up a few ingredients and went over to her house to bake. She made a delicious dinner, including soup the way my mom used to make, and the adults (age, not maturity) sat around the table over vittles and coffee and talked about all manner of things. My sister and brother-in-law like
coffeedaiv, I can tell. It was one of those evenings that should be weird, but mostly just felt nice.
There is a Night of 1,000 Pumpkins on November 1st, in Burien. We made plans to go to that, and do some other things together on the 1st.
Sunday was another busy, fun day, as I (unplanned) ended up at casa
ironymaiden with
mimerki. Giggling, coconut pouchong tea, pizza from Snoose Junction, Sita Sings the Blues, and Big Trouble in Little China ensued. I nodded off while in the sumo, but woke just as ironymaiden was focusing the camera.
And now I have more pumpkin bread (chocolate chip pumpkin bread this time), hot from the oven, laundry that is clean if not quite as dry as I'd like, and post-massage bliss.
