Another Cleaning Day

This time, I tackled a problem that's been nagging me for a while: my stationary. Because I have quite a lot of it, and it had sort of spread itself around and out of of two letter boxes and a third cardboard box, and there were packages and notepads all over the place. In all the sorting and cleaning, I found out that although I have over a dozen different designs, I really don't have too much stationary (considering that I actually *do* write letters regularly). It's dominantly Midori and San-X, though, so I think I'll look around for some non JP paper. I want more Mama Indica's hemp/cereal straw paper, but it's incredibly difficult to find. The hemp paper that I have from Greenfield isn't anywhere as smooth and lovely, probably because it's hemp/recycled post-consumer, instead of 50% hemp/50% cereal straw -- but seem to have all new ones, now. Denim paper, and garlic paper. But I just remembered the banana leaf, cigar, and coffee paper that Costa Rica Naturals makes, so I think I'll go ahead and order some of that.

By the way, if you'd like a letter (international or domestic), email me an address to send it. My email address is on my info page.

I found something else in the shuffling, too -- a little stack of decade+ old poems that hadn't been put with the other old ones. They were not especially good, but here are a couple that I'm glad to have found. The first one, "Gingerbread", disturbs me... weird how a mindset can keep in faded ballpoint on cheap notepaper. The second one, I believe, is one that I wrote to the guy I was engaged to, but I'm not sure. Anyway, I wouldn't have given it to him, because even then I was aware that he was a clod.

Gingerbread
and candle wax red
sugar and nibbling spices;
Silvern snails
and happy-wag tails
and hints of my favorite vices
A maiden's unmade
And plans (best laid)
Fray and go awry
What's to be done
But relax and have fun
with a giggle and a
satisfied sigh?

I love you.
I love you the way
That I love a rainbow,
That I love celery in tuna salad,
That I love mountains in snow;
I love you like a play
that's badly written, or well acted
Or like a romantic ballad,
Or like the sky, full of stars.
My love won't make you choke
Any more than it chokes my favorite cat
or strangles an afternoon nap
Or stifles a good joke.
And when it's over and gone
I'll miss you like a sunset,
The way I miss my childhood,
and the smell of upholstery in a new car.
That's all. It isn't wrong
To love you, just because you are.

I've had a whole bunch of new music to listen to while cleaning, because D the Pirate came over yesterday. I'm not supposed to have this Fiona Apple -- no one is -- which is just stupid, because the album is brilliant. Why would her label shelve this?!?

Aw, both are very vivid to me, quite beautiful. ^ ^ I know how it is finding old poetry that reminds you really well of how things were when you wrote it.

Heh, especially when it's about love over someone who turned out to be a dud.

Thanks for sharing! :D
