I had to exchange all the "Xmas"s for "Christmas". I was taught the importance of that, and, yes, I still believe it's right.

1. Favourite Christmas song (religious)?
"Silent Night", which I've loved since I was very, very small.
2. Favourite Christmas song (secular)?
"Silver Bells" for vocal, "Carol of the Bells" for instrumental. The TransSiberian Orchestra has "Christmas Canon" out this year and it's really good, though. Even though Pachelbel's "Canon" has bad associations for me, I still love it.
3. Favourite Christmas cookie to eat?
The sandwichy kind with jam.
4. Favourite Christmas cookie to bake?
Gingerbread Men! I used to do houses every year, too, when I almost had space for them. So much fun, and they smell gooood.
5. Christmas dinner - ham, turkey or other?
I like "other". We've usually done turkey, but I get turkey-d out on Thanksgiving. We did Chinese one year; that was odd. Paella -- that I would like.

The first time I heard of doing that was from my friends, and I thought "huh?" What, you can't wait One More Day? And since when is Christmas about the presents you're getting?

Just the 4 of us (two girls, two cats) but we still hang up socks. Actual socks. (Not for the cats.) Why? How else can you hold all that chocolate?

My best friend.

My best friend. The same one.
11. How much do you spend per person on Christmas presents?
I try to keep the number low, but if something is perfect, I try to pass it off as something I "got on sale" so that they can pretend not to know how much I spent.
12. Best present you ever got?
Weird but true -- a storage box with rose-patterned print and fake metal "fittings" on it. It was one of those cheesy Costco sets, with the photo album that matches. Someone who I would like to run over with a car gave it to me, but that still doesn't spoil it. I'm not even sure why I like it so much; I've never particularly cared for roses.
13. Biggest thing on your wish list this year?
Peace on Earth and Good Will to Mankind.
14. What kinds of decorations do you put up?
A wreath on the door, some ornaments here and there. We don't have space for much.
15. Mini lights or full size indoor lights on your Christmas tree?
If I had a tree, I'd do mini lights. I have a special fondness for bubble-lights, though, just not on the tree.
16. Coloured coordinated tree or jumble of stuff collected through the years?
I've done both, and I kind of prefer the Theme tree. I like to travel light, so I don't have a whole lot of stuff carried from year to year.
17. Weirdest decoration on your tree?
The wooden cats with wings, maybe.
18. Favourite Christmas cartoon?
The original Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Else, one of the Simpsons Christmas specials.
19. Least favourite Christmas cartoon?
Charlie Brown. (really!) The only thing I like is the part with the sad tree.

Can Edward Scissorhands count? How about The Nightmare Before Christmas? (Except that the villan is really upsetting.)

Anything with Tim Allen.
22. Any strange Christmas traditions in your family?
No one can open gifts until *everyone* is in the room. It's incredibly difficult with the size of my family, even just the ones in Seattle!
23. Boxing Day: Yay or Nay?
The official regifting holiday? Absolutely! We need that in the U.S.!
24. Ever been to see the Nutcracker ballet?
No... . I've seen in on TV, a couple of different productions. As ballets go, I'd rather see something unusual, like Coppelia.
25. How likely is it you'll have a white Christmas where you live?
We had a white Christmas Eve my first year here! It all melted before most people woke up. It's not terribly likely, but it could happen. ::crosses fingers::
26. Do you send Christmas cards? Real or e-cards?
I sent real, paper cards! I like sending e-cards, too, though.
27. When did you get up Christmas morning as a kid?
Crack.Of.Dawn. And then I had to wait for all the olders to wake up! (See #22)
28. Who is at your house to open presents on Christmas?
I go over to my Mom's, where it's both my parents, my sister & BIL, my 2 nieces, my younger brother, and sometimes my other sister + boyfriend.
29. Do you like wrapping presents or hate it?
I loooove to wrap. Brown paper or fancy paper, doesn't matter. I like to make pretty packages, each one different.
30. Do you like candy canes?
Yes, yummy! Fancy peppermint pillows, or peppermints covered in chocolate (Jo's makes good ones) are superb.

I think I was 11! I remember a grade school teacher saying that it took 3 days to aquire a habit, but a week to break one. Making myself stop chewing my nails was an experiment.

Such singlemindedness! I would have shrugged that off at eleven. The only thing that stopped me was getting acrylic nails put on. (How weak am I?) But it worked, and I very seldom bite my nails anymore. And if I do, I fix the damage as quickly as possible, with file/clippers, etc.
