I'm thankful for the review, but is she calling me out?

It's pretty rare when a reviewer rankles me enough for me to complain about it, since I rather like negative reviews. But this is negative; it's just... I don't know. (For the bit from "CS" where Yue says that if they had achiote to go with the cocoa, they could have mole.)


Cute story, just wanted to point out that mole isn't necessarily made with chocolate. Mole is prepared with chilli and its consistence is thick; this "sauce" as you call it has a lot of ingredients and it can be spicy or not, but for a mole to be considered as such it MUST have chilli or achiote -not chocolate-, and be thick.


I'd trust her knowledge of the subject more if she spelled chile as chile. I'm not Mexican, myself, after all, and Mexican food in L.A. (let alone Seattle) isn't exactly authentic.

Oh well. It's still feedback -- someone making a point of something like discussion.

Hmm, it does sound a tad rude. Like she was reviewing just to point out your mistakes more than anything. If she was making a constructive critic, then she should've also say what was good about the fic, but she only goes about the mole.

I have no idea about the mole thing, though. I've never eaten Mexican food, but I can ask any of my friends from there about it, if you want.

Thanks. No, its okay -- I'm pretty sure about the mole thing. Even if she is herself Mexican, and cooks, that comment really is out of left field, and doesn't contradict story content. {shrugs again} Maybe she felt like a snot after leaving it. Maybe she was just trying to think of something to say.
