My Winter Holiday (Solstice, Christmas, Boxing Day, New Year's, Lunar New Year's) Wishlist (Boxing Day is great -- you can give me whatever you got but didn't want.)

Step One

* Make a post (public, friends locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love an Hades/Persephone icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

* If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

* Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
* Adding your Wishlist to your Memories for easy finding is also a good idea.

Step Two

* Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

* If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. An Amy Brown e-postcard, sent to butterflydreaming[at]gmail[dot]com (I've given them but never gotten one.)

2. A review/comment for one of my fics that you've read but didn't comment on, especially if you didn't like it, and why.

3.For those of you with paid accounts, a poll of some kind in your journal.

4.Animated icons, preferably non-anime because I need to branch out.

5. A lit/book fanfic recommendation that is not a)HP, b)pairing oriented, c)slash. (Nothing against slash, mind.)

6.Explicit, step by step instructions on how to take an existing image (what size it needs to be, etc) and use it as a background image for my LJ. Explicit.

7.Hug a friend, and tell them it's to satisfy a request on this list. (or don't tell them)

8.Watch The Emperor and the Assassin so that I know that someone else *has*, and can therefore talk about hair-bells and sandal sellers.

9.Enjoy *something* wholeheartedly and write a post about it, preferably a long one.

10.Put your Wishlist under Memories, titled Wishlist, so that I can find it at a later date (such as your birthday).

If you fulfill any of the above, please leave a comment on this post so that I know!

Let's see...

Did 3, 10 and 1 (the art is gorgeous, I blame you for restarting my need to draw)!

Trying desperately to do 7 and 9.

And:5- Have you read Jostein Gaarder's "The Ringmaster’s Daughter"
I've read three of his books, but somehow I think this one is just the right one for you, it's more mature than his usual writing (he usually writes for younger readers)

#3- Done.
#10- Done.
#5- ... I was going to say Jostein Gaarder. >_< (Though I haven't read the one [livejournal.com profile] elihice mentioned; I was thinking The Solitaire Mystery or Maya).
