It's never 6 degrees.
I found this... in an old entry of a friend's journal. It's incredibly cool. You can see how you're connected, through LJ, to another LJer via a wandering journey of other people.
I chose to pick someone who isn't in the main cluster of my friends, and skipped the one-hop connection. I also skipped
angelevangeline, who, strangely, seems to be some kind of hub. (I want to be a hub!) I don't know her. My result was only 4 hops, one person I know and 2 strangers. I also used the random name option, from duskyjewel, and it still only took 6 hops.

Also, I think I know some other people on your friends list whom I just haven't gotten around yet to friending, so, yeah, intriguing.
