Knit... purl... knot?

So I'm running out of yarn (crotchet cotton, actually) and I'm wondering what I'm supposed to do about it. [livejournal.com profile] laurus_nobilis? Anybody? Please don't make me poke around the LJ knitting communities. "Friendly", in my experience, has not been a word I'd associate with people holding pokey sticks.

I'm not sure of how to say this in English, so I hope it makes sense...

What I do when I run out of yarn is leave a "tail" hanging, then take the next ball of yarn, also leave a bit of yarn hanging, and then start knitting as usual. It should look as if there were two "tails" at the point you changed yarns, and you can tie them up when you're done.

Um. That looks confusing. :(

Ah, vindication

That's exactly what I chose to do, basing it off of concepts of peyote stitch beading. (Slightly obsessed with the knitting right now; had to keep going) Yay! Thank you -- that actually did make sense.
