Knit... purl... knot?

So I'm running out of yarn (crotchet cotton, actually) and I'm wondering what I'm supposed to do about it.
laurus_nobilis? Anybody? Please don't make me poke around the LJ knitting communities. "Friendly", in my experience, has not been a word I'd associate with people holding pokey sticks.

It should look as if there were two "tails" at the point you changed yarns, and you can tie them up when you're done.
Um. That looks confusing. :(
Ah, vindication
