I have increased respect for audiobook readers since recording all of my published story. It took longer than I realized it would. My intent had been to make my story available to low vision readers, an under-serviced market.
Then the publisher renegotiated with a contract that locked up the audio rights as well as the print rights. I still hope that she plans to do something with them for the duration of the contract.
Future stories, though. Especially ones that are finished but homeless and likely to remain unpublished. Or since I read drafts aloud anyway, maybe I should turn the recorder on.
