I heard, some years back, of a co-op car sharing on Orcas, I think it was.
With a small group, I think that can work. It's the middle sizes, the
cities outside the core city, where it would be the most difficult to
balance the number of cars and members using them.
I think it's so useful to have cars just when you need them, for a couple
of hours now and then. It's too bad that some ideas only happen in dense
urban areas where big companies (like Avis, Mercedes, & BMW) find it
profitable to do them. There usually aren't even places to rent a car for
day use, outside of airports and city downtown.
