I could refuse; I could be stubborn;
I could fight against this and I would win.
I could cut this thread with scorn;
I could bar the door, refuse to let this in.

I could crush this shoot between foot and floor;
I could turn my back on what's begun;
I could censor my heart and not care anymore;
I could snap the lock on what I've done.

I could change the rules, or change the tone;
I could be satisfied with what I've got.
I could leave this dangerous play alone --
I could do these things, but I choose not.
