I was doing a week to ten days ahead. We did pretty well with a bunch of post-it notes that had a meal on each of them. We (I) put them up in whatever order for the week based on what groceries we already had, or what sounded good. That method got broken.
The meat part is always the easiest thing to select, and typically the simplest part to cook, so this time I'm doing it based on the what-goes-with part of the meal. I'd like to do a week of fresh, with some additional days in the freezer. Prep'ing veges takes time; if I know what they are becoming for the next week I can chop them accordingly (and eat more veges). Sometimes I'm just too tired to cut onions, even when I want them in the food.
