And for this reason, you get an icon of spring and summer.
We got some free calendars at work. December's image was fog, trees, and snow. Who wants to look at images of winter in winter? Give me cabana boys, and dark skinned girls in sarongs. Make me think of coconut oil and warm loam and the sensuality of cold umbrella drinks.
I'm dawdling in Belltown to avoid getting caught in football game & bad weather traffic. Elliott Ave was a river half an hour ago; the front entrance of the building was blocked by a moat. The florescent lights flicker every few minutes. Traffic seems to be getting worse, not better. And I'm hungry. What to do... .
I talked to my new landlord today. He would have had keys for me tonight, but some were mis-cut, so L will pick them up tomorrow instead. We continue to make reasonable roommates, so here we continue, but with much more space. Space to invite people over! A great big living room. And no neighbors, because the space is the only residential in a building with commercial on the first floor. After 8, it's just us. *grin* A kitchen that isn't galley style.
It's all of a 1/4 mile from where we currently live, and still in W. Seattle, but that's a 1/4 mile closer to the Junction, less stumbling distance home, and anyway I do like our neighborhood. There is an indie coffee house across the street that has free wireless, so I'm going to try not having service at home. My cell phone should no longer be in a blackout zone when I'm home, either, since the new apartment is that much farther from the invisible alien space ship.
We aren't moving in a hurry. L, who works in retail, will be a zombie until 2007, and I can't take the stress. Instead of a housewarming, I'd like to have a darkling party in the old place when it's empty in the last part of January. We can roast marshmallows in the fireplace (goodbye, fireplace) without the cats attending the festivities. We can have s'mores fondue!
I'm really happy about this new place. It's still pretty cheap, too.

ironymaiden's house last night was spiritually fulfilling. I do hope this becomes a regular thing because it's wonderful. It was good to see
shellyinseattle.
scarlettina brought an assortment of really cool beads.
varina8 was also working in beads, but in a very different way. There was quilting and knitting and the shaping of beautiful letters and Tasty Cakes and tea and mini flower-power cookies by Bite Me. (Organic and all natural.) I asked
omnifarious to come fetch me since he now lives in Ballard, and he commented that I was in an upbeat mood.
And this morning I had delicious crumpets at The Crumpet Shop. L & I are both addicted now. I "blame"
joyful_storm, whose mention of TCS prodded me into finally visiting there.
I've run out of thoughts. Oh, wait -- yes.
