butterflydreaming: "Cris", in blocks with a blinking cat (Default)

Missed it by *that* much.

No sitar concert for me tonight. Metro would get me to the edge of UW campus with just enough time to be rudely late, and rushing anywhere after today would be a bit too much.

So instead I'm hanging out, watching someone else play video games. I used to do that with my brother; he'd play and I'd watch. That way I never had to make Mario or any other character jump over shifting distances to land on a tiny, moving platform. {shudder} That's why I loved the first Zelda, and later, FF7. I still prefer the chibi look of that character style over contemporary game worlds. My brother has told me about a new game that has the visual style of Chinese brush painting. That's one that I would like to see.

I had a whole section of text about behing stressed out, which I attempted to cut from the first paragraph of this post and paste here, but somehow the block got lost. I'm on omnifarious' computer, not one I'm familiar with, and even typing feels odd. I keep mis-keying.

I don't want anyone to feel bad, but I'm a stress-ball. Between work's end-of-month tension and circumstances that have things scurrying out of the emotional dark corners, I'm very much on edge.

In other news, I love Calexico. Must buy CDs. Iron & Wine is also pretty good. And Slender Means will be at the Crocodile next month. DeVotchKa is at the Showbox in December, but I haven't made up my mind about going.

Before the rehearsal dinner (at Ivar's on the waterfront), there was a discussion in the car of [livejournal.com profile] spazzychic about clones and the Jekyll & Hyde -esque result of separating out the bad parts from a personality. Now I have the phrase "leftover bimbo" in my head and I don't know what to do with it. Kind of like having "kryptonite shiv" in my head after seeing the recent Superman movie. I still think that would be the perfect title for a bit of Lexcentric fic, but with the little writing that I have been doing of late (two months, almost nothing), it's not one terribly likely to be writ.

One more thing: am I the only one who sees the difference between promiscuous and slut?

am I the only one who sees the difference between promiscuous and slut?

no, you're not.

Nope, but for some people, it's a very fine line.

Nope! I see a huge difference between those words, personally.

Oh man.... Kryptonite Shiv. He was taken down like he was in prison. Best part of the movie by far. *laughs*

just enough time to be rudely late
i don't know how the seattle ragamala concerts go, but here they invariably start almost exactly 15 minutes late. dunno if it would have made any difference, and in any case there's the rushing, of course.

i'd say "get some rest", but the obvious response would be "hello, kettle? this is pot." :-/

He hasn't told me the title of the game, or if he mentioned it, I forgot. I'm sure I'll hear about it when he buys it, though.

I'm afraid I would have gotten lost, trying to navigate through the campus, and that would have absorbed any extra time -- but, good to know that I will likely have a few extra minutes, next time.

Hello, pot. :)

hye, want to get coffee sometime? perhaps you could bring spazzychic too?

We're doing happy hour from 5 to 6ish today, at Wild Fish (Belltown, at 1st & Broad), if you can make it on such amazingly short notice. Otherwise, let's definitely do something, maybe next week?

By the way, the game is called "O-Kami". :)
