Ephemeral = Beautiful

Did anyone see the Seattle P.I. article on Friday about the guy doing the rock art in Myrtle Edwards Park? I've been looking out my window at those and thinking I should go down and take pictures. True leaving-the-office-for-an-hour breaks haven't been happening.

Looking around, I found this collection of photographs featuring rock stacking art.

I didn't take a lot of pictures during my trip. I didn't have my camera with me during the striking multi-arc rainbow that happened in Port Angeles on Friday night. It happened right as we finished dinner and were getting ready to leave the restaurant. The woman at the other table ran outside with her camera, down to the sandy shore, where the vivid colors were reflecting on the shadowy water. I was almost disappointed not to be able to try to photograph it. Still, like the fireworks on the Fourth, some things are to be enjoyed in the moment. They fail in captivity.

Fluttertime had a booth at the street fair. A couple of teenaged girls goggled at the news that most species of butterflies live only 4 or 5 weeks. (Most, but not all. Our local Mourning Cloak butterfly is one of the exceptions.)

We made it to O-bon last evening; it was crowded and wonderful. A caucasian man with gray hair stopped us with the question, "Do you hear the music?" as we walked up the street. He seemed upset by the possibility that only he could. It sounded like it was much further away. I like that Shangri-La quality of the street festival. For some reason, it's boisterously loud while you're there, but once you walk out to the adjoining arterial, the sound drops. Kori with milk is tasty, and I bought a new obi!

Nearby, really? Why, that makes you a Belletown Belle! It's an honorary title, no dues, and our meetings are picnics and lunch dates. :) (The other belles are [livejournal.com profile] ironymaiden, [livejournal.com profile] llynecat, & [livejournal.com profile] spazzychic.

A picnic would be grand. There still quite a few Mondays and Tuesdays left in the summer. We usually do lunch around 1. Email me at butterflydreaming AT gmail with your work email address. :)
