you won't come across the quote in the series - it's from "Dale Cooper: My Life, My Tapes", the biography that was published sometime around when the series was on air. in it, a 20-something D.B.Cooper decides to try a sleep deprivation experiment - he checks in at various times through the 2-3 days that he's awake. at one point, to demonstrate his continuing dexterity, he affixes a rope to his bedroom ceiling and ties a watermelon to it. some hours later he notes that there's a watermelon spiked on one of his bedposts, and wonders why. he blames this (and other things) on the little poeple he's realized are living in his closet. his final conclusion before he zonks for something like 24 hours is that human beings don't need sleep - as long as they can keep the little people out of the closet.
