butterflydreaming: "Cris", in blocks with a blinking cat (candy)
Aya and Shiva get along better than I could have hoped. They fuss at each other like a couple of little kids. There is tussling, with yowling and growling, but in a peevish way. When the fur flies, it is more likely to be Aya's pale carmel color than a dark gray puff from Shiva. (She is a black cat, but you know how loose fur looks lighter.) With Aya's former feline housemate, altercations had the tone of Battle Royal.

They squabble over toys, stealing each other's. Treats are not a problem, because S likes the salmon bites (tossed to be chased)that she knows and Aya likes the bonito flakes that he knows. To my shock, they are okay with sharing litter boxes.

I think that they are both happier. It's good for Shiva to have another walks-on-four person and it's good for Aya to have another male in residence. Instead of being jealous of D, he seems relieved.

Aya is still a morning person. He still wakes me up at 5:30. He still licks bags, sheds astonishing quantities of fur, jumps on the kitchen counter, and otherwise makes me threaten to turn him into chili. Nevertheless, I am happy to have my kitty living with me.

Shiva still asks *me* (not D) to feed her, play with her, clean her box, pay attention to her. Like right... now... as she tries to use me as cat furniture. {throws cat off lap} I'm very thankful to the furball for being easy-going. When Aya moved in, I asked her to be nice to him because cats have always been mean to him, and he's never had any friends. Now she has a "little brother" to beat up.
