butterflydreaming: "Cris", in blocks with a blinking cat (Default)
There was no cake.

Well, there were cheesecake truffles. A bit of preliminary, investigatory chocolate crawling that included The Confectional, a new place in the Market, as well as Fran's, which I had never been in. We walked past and once again shunned The Chocolate Box. [livejournal.com profile] divinityof_fire found my comparison of that awful poster (the child with face smeared with "chocolate") to a photo of used toilet paper to be more amusing than I did myself. We tasted free tea, again at the Market.

There were no real plans for Saturday. Feed the cats for some Norwescongoers and hit the tasting at Sake Nomi. We didn't taste all 13, only about 7, then I believe that the bartender/store guy cut us off. I bought a bottle of sparkling sake.

We nibbled at Nijo, handily nearby.

And hung out, and that was nice. I knew my birthday would pretty much be shot, falling on the weekend that it did. It's okay; it was good.

Tonight I finally got some time to hang out with my sister, sort of celebrating her birthday (a month ago) and my brother's (also in March) as well as mine. Still no cake, but I did get fresh, handmade corn tortillas, Salvadoran style. I watched my sis carefully, this time, as she made the masa and cooked the tortillas, because I've been feeling the urge to massacre traditional cooking again.
