Bonfire Tonight
Apr. 10th, 2005 09:48 amUnless that cloud layer decides to stay and turn into rain, it looks like it will be just fine for fire tonight. (That's the look-out-the-window forecast, not the official one. The official one has been saying "rain" for days, and the last couple of days were deliriously beautiful.) Yay! If I didn't email you specifically, you are still invited! Undesirable stalker-types will simply be tossed into the fire into Puget Sound.
Where: Alki Beach. I should be easy to find. L wanted to bring sparklers, but I told her it would be wiser to save the illegal fireworks for
hakinimomma's book release party. Heh.
When: Tonight, beginning 6:30/7. It will go as late as anyone wishes to stay, or until the wood runs out. Or 11pm, when the beach "closes".
Bring: Yourself, dressed warmly. (This is a sand beach, so don't wear anything too nice.) Something to sit on. A companion, if you wish. Food/beverage, if you like, although Alki has several restaurants that should be open, and (if you must) a Starbucks that I think is open til 9, all within a couple of blocks of the firepit area. Thus, a convenient excuse is provided should you tire of my company.
If you have clean wood around that you would like to bring (contruction ends, say) or feel compelled to birthday-gift me, bring firewood or aromatic wood. If you have something smallish and burnable that you'd like to see go up in flames, bring it.
shiro_no_wired, I'm going to try to make some "altered glass" for you, but I'll have to leave it overnight to cool and fish it out of the ashes Monday morning. (Which means I'll just have to stop for a cinnamon roll from Alki Bakery while I'm there, darn.)
Parking: Alki is mostly residental, but the street parking is non-permit. There is beach parking (parallel). Parking shouldn't be a problem for anyone, but as always, I encourage carpooling. If you can get yourself there, you'll definitely have a ride home, from me if not anyone else. If you have issues with getting there, let me know before 5pm and Something Can Be Arranged.
Plan B: If you don't already know plan B, ask and I'll give you the details.
I look forward to seeing you! (Wish it could be *all* of you!)
