butterflydreaming: "Cris", in blocks with a blinking cat (Default)

[livejournal.com profile] scarlettina, you were much missed last night.

I tried for casual, I really did. (It was casual for me!) But then I had the idea to wear "Ice"... . See, I name everything that I make. A few years ago, I made an all clear-and-iridencent-beads fringed choker. I've never been able to wear it, because it never seemed the right time. But yesterday Ice wanted to be worn, and then I needed the right shirt... . So I was in a very comfortable denim wrap skirt, and wearing my Fluevogs (because if you "wear beautiful shoes, they will take you beautiful places"), Ice, and a soft blue silk, sleeveless shirt with a Chinese motif. Everyone agreed that my shirt was soft and pet-able. (*loves that shirt*) And I was so happy that the weather has warmed up enough for me to wear sleeveless!

And I wasn't overdressed, really. Just a little shiny. But, in all seriousness, that wasn't the shirt, or Ice. Yes, that's what my inner light looks like.

I like the new house; the public areas are open and welcoming, yet cozy. Skylights indoors made the living room and kitchen bright and pleasant. And the back yard, beyond the new deck, has lots of grottos that made me think of childish fun, like swinging on the tire swing, and hide-and-seek. I arrived earliest of all the guests because [livejournal.com profile] scarletbronte was kind enough to fetch me, so that I didn't have to metro. Which was really good, since I had baked a chocolate cake, and the ganache would not have been *quite* set by the time I would've needed to catch the bus. Shortly after pulling into the driveway, however, we were surprized by the appearance of [livejournal.com profile] hgross and [livejournal.com profile] evego. Unfortunate reasons made them available, after all, so I was lucky to meet them for the first time.

It was to be an evening of meeting many new and wonderful people. Some of them (the very cute trio of C, W, and G) don't have LJs. Matt Ruff (yes, that one) and his beautiful wife -- who also brought a chocolate cake, one that was pure sin -- were in attendance. [livejournal.com profile] ironymaiden not only looked especially beautiful herself, but she brought her husband, who was wearing "the +2 Shirt of Hotness". (I wish I could share the vision. Lots of visually pleasing husbands last night, I must say. [livejournal.com profile] loloc, for example, who cooked up the plethora of good vittles.) I met [livejournal.com profile] seattlesparks later in the evening, and discovered that she is well versed in the knowledge of musicals... so that was much fodder for conversation. She also shared some childhood tales: "Frogs & Ducks", "Alien Cowboys", and "The Empire Falls Flat on Its Face". Delight that she is, I naturally "friended" her first thing this morning. (It was also amusing to listen to her geeking out with [livejournal.com profile] mimerki about Linux, Unix, and more.)

The occasion for the gathering was for [livejournal.com profile] frabjousdave to introduce the Edmontonians. I think that they were both a little overwhelmed by well... us... but they were both troopers. Damn hippies can't keep their shoes on, though. (A JOKE!)

[livejournal.com profile] buhrger displayed his juggling skills, in addition to other endearing qualities. (No, I won't say more at this time.) [livejournal.com profile] lindylousmith has the most amazing eye color, like a well brewed Assam tea with strong red tones -- lovely.

I stayed after the bunnies had all gone home to their cozy beds, and took advantage of the house hospitality further by staying the night. Oh, that was the best sleep -- no cat complaining and scratching on the door, or knocking things over in a not-very-subtle attempt to wake L or me up. I had a lazy morning that consisted of breakfast and chatter with Scarletbronte, Loloc, and Mimerki, before I headed home with the last of the two chocolate cakes.
