New City Limits (I have a title!)

The (NaNoWriMo) novel that is explicitly *not* Turning the Key has grown a title of its own: New City Limits. It's a plotless (because the overloaded plot of Key is what I get snagged on) urban fantasy set in Seattle, pre Pearl Harbor (for Meyer) and contemporary (for Genny).

My word count is good. I'm on track. Today was my first day of writing without computer access. I did six pages by hand. I think my by-hand is about 400 words per page (wpp), but even if it is only 300 wpp I am still on target.

Yesterday I even wrote a little on the fanfic (TC)! I was too agitated to do anything else. My mom died from cancer two years ago on November 1st. Spending the day writing, NCL, TC, and in my paper journal, was about all I could do because I was so restless. I was actually relieved that D got called in to work. It's Jumbo Shrimp, but I both wanted company and was completely unable to face *people*.

So I hung out with imaginary people. It was good.

EDIT: A hand written page turned out to be about 220 words when I typed it out, so I wrote another 500 and called it good.

My sympathies on the unhappy anniversary. I have one coming up this month, too. Mes de los muertos. :(

I am agog at your ability to write stuff by hand. My hands don't work fast enough for that anymore. They're barely fast enough for typing, sometimes!

Since I hand write all the time in my paper journal, I'm actually pretty fast at it. I write at the typical pace of my thoughts. Keyboarding, even at my pathetic 35 wpm, gives me too much time to drift out of focus, unless I'm having a burst of inspiration, at which times I can just barely keep up. ^_^ That said, I am pretty impressed with myself so far.

My handwritten pages tend to come out at a pretty constant 250 words/side, which was always handy for gauging the progress of school essays (a bit like Hogwarts measuring them by the inch :-D)

Comes in very handy for estimating fanfic progress without having to type anything up, as well; if I aim for six to eight pages I can get a fairly consistent 3-4000 words per chapter.

(busy tag-browsing... you might want to consolidate a few of them, e.g. ccs/card captor sakura/cardcaptor sakura...)

Honestly, I haven't felt it worth the effort to clean up my tags. Far enough back, many entries that predated tagging don't even have tags, nor do ones that I posted by email. I appreciate the head's up, sorry that you have to see my mess.
