"... but I do not like the look of it..."

I may be too lazy to finish the CCS fic. And the [livejournal.com profile] musemuggers_2 prompts are so good this week! Plus, we're getting so close to October, the month of preparation for NaNoWriMo. And it's been forever since I did anything on "TC". So we'll see what happens. I don't think that "Pearls" is actually fluff, unless it's "deep fluff"; it has some very strange things in it.

Small crying jag this morning, because I can't seem to live in my own head. Results in headache, and using Tori Amos lyrics for entry title.

Yesterday afternoon/evening was good, all around. WW people, don't read on because I'm talking about you now {laughs}.

So yesterday was the absolutely first time that I have ever met someone in RL that I have only "known" on LJ, hence the nervousness in the morning (and most of the day, Saturday). A totally unknown dynamic, operating. But it wasn't going to be too much of a "scary thing", I told myself, because... quite frankly... I hadn't invested anything in having them like me. Some of you, here, if you met me and were disappointed, I would have to throw myself into heavily flowing traffic, preferably in front of a Mac truck.

But they were nice, and I mean Actually Nice. Even when they told (very funny) stories about people, they were nice about it. Sure, I wasn't entirely comfortable in a room full of strangers who all already knew each other, but it wasn't like some other parties that I have attended. [livejournal.com profile] scarletbronte's daughter (K) and the dom with the pretty hair (M) and [livejournal.com profile] scarlettina were awesome people, especially, although not a single person there was off-putting or rude in any way...

...except, maybe, me. Because I'm not an Actually Nice person, and I didn't think it would be right to "get my fake on", as L says. Not that I was being actively mean, or anything, but I heard myself laughing too loud, and it had nothing to do with the cosmopolitans. (I didn't have anything even approaching a buzz until after the third one. Which was lovely, since I drink for the yummy. And also why I drink vodka preferentially to wine.) Clothes make the woman, you know, and I showed up in my white fishnet stockings over black hose. Predominance of black -- t-shirt, skirt, and my so kawaii Fluevog Mary Janes -- with a little bit more of my gothy/punk self showing than usual. {shrugs} It felt like the right thing to wear.

They probably had more fun after I left, but that's all right. It was pleasant to meet [livejournal.com profile] frabjousdave before he left to fair Canada -- he's more charming in person than on lj -- I'd say more flattering things about him, but I'd better not -- and I would certainly socialize with the group again. Lovely drinks, entertaining conversation. And I snagged some good free stuff: Star Wars artbooks and such. To placate L with.

Oh, and I was told that Neil Gaiman is here on LJ somewhere.
